It’s finally August and New York families know that they still have at least one more month of scorching temperatures and unwelcome humidity. When the beach and park are no longer an ideal option—and tourist-packed museums seem daunting—The Plaza hotel might have a new swanky alternative. At 1 West 58th Street, Eloise, The Plaza’s iconic uptown character of mischief, has carved out some upscale digs on the concourse level of The Shops at The Plaza.
Since 1955, Eloise has charmed guests with her fantasy life in the hotel. In 2011, Eloise impressed guests with a new massively deluxe 2,100-square-foot pink and black playhouse, brimming with all things Eloise. Inside the space, fans can play dress-up in Eloise’s fashion closet, host a party in the Tea Room or browse Eloise-inspired books, movies, games, crafts, home goods, clothing—more than any Eloise admirer could ever dream of. Those young ones anticipating the high-life and needing to fine-tune their comportment, can step it up a notch at one of Eloise’s etiquette classes.
There are still two more Eloise special events this summer at The Plaza. Be-Magical Day on August 7 will include a magic show by magician Didi Maxx and kids can even learn a few tricks of their own. On August 14, Eloise bids adieu to summer with an afternoon of face painting and decorating backpacks for school.
