As kids prepare to head back to school and parents expect to be shuttling them from sports practice, to rehearsal and a slew of other extracurricular activities, trendy Japanese brand UNIQLO is launching a whole new kids’ collection just in time.
Due in stores Friday, September 7, the fall/winter 2012 UNIQLO Kids collection will keep city boys and girls, from 3 months to 12 years old, stylish for all their many affairs.
“We are excited to launch our new UNIQLO Kids and Babies collection in the U.S.,” said Mr. Shin Odake, UNIQLO USA’s Chief Executive Officer. “Adding this product category is a natural step for us as we widen our consumer base.”
Mom Knows Best
French fashion houses often start with an adult line prêt-à-porter line and trickle down to children’s wear. High-end children’s clothier, Bonpoint, however, has done quite the opposite.
Mom and Bonpoint Artistic Director Christine Innamorato starts with kids’ wear and moves up. She not only designs modern looks for young children, but also an adult line with her 24-year-old daughter, as well as a teenage line, YAM, which in French stands for “I’m over it” or “I’m over Bonpoint,” modeled after the younger line.
Innamorato started with the company in 2006, and last week met the U.S. press for the first time at the New York flagship store on Madison at 68th Street.
