Diapers are dirty business. An unavoidable element of having babies and infants around, tending to our little ones’ messes often tops many parents’ list of most odious tasks. However there is light at the end of the No. 2 tunnel! Brooklyn company Ubbi is trying to make the diaper disposal process a bit less off-putting. Scooter investigated the latest Ubbi disposal system ($80) at the New York International Gift Fair yesterday, to see what all the buzz was about.

With its sleek, powder coated steel design and rubber seal, Ubbi prevents odor absorption, locks in the stank and is easy to clean. The chosen-one that gets to deal with diaper duty can use any tall kitchen bag on the Ubbi and a simple sliding lid means you don’t have to get too close or let too many aromas out into your space. Thankfully, the contraption is also childproof and locks so that pets and wee people can’t knock out the diaper pail’s contents.

Fresh to the market in 2012, Ubbi has already earned top ratings from parenting and lifestyle rags, as well as seen solid sales, reported a company representative at the trade show. Ubbi also sells eco-friendly pail liners, plastic bags and other diaper accessories—for those who want the works. It comes in eight colors and can be decorated to match you children’s room décor. Stench never looked so stylish!

Something To Kick About

The '70s musical Hair inspires viewers in many ways, but it's not every day that it inspires an entire footwear line. The show's Flower Power, free-lovin' ways did just that to Kickers' founder Daniel Raufast, who created his collection of hippy-chic shoes in 1970. Though Raufast is now retired, his brand continues to produce sensible, well-made footwear for all ages, with an astounding amount of options for kids.

Kickers' newest innovation is an eco-friendly collection of shoes and boots made using a Titanium Sanotan tanning method. The footwear manages to be bio-compatible with human tissues, biodegradable, lightweight and chromium-free while maintaining its durability. We're convinced that these kicks, which can be dressed up or down, will keep up with your zany New York lifestyle, from a day of shopping in Carnegie Hill to a picnic in the park, to scurrying around the Brooklyn Bridge and posh adventures in Soho.

The new Kickers collection is available in stores and online and ranges from $90 to $140.
